I have begun changing these links over. For episodes that are available from more than one source I am now redirecting to another page that will contain both sets of links. For example, many CBC shows are now available on the CBC as well as Netflix.
This page will list sites where you can watch TV online from Canada (Legally) Most US Sites block Canadian viewers from watching.
It is by no means complete, and will be updated often. I will also list the shows available.
Please feel free to email me other shows and sites.
Most CTV Shows can now be seen on the watch.ctv.ca website including:
Lost
Flashpoint
Fringe
Grey’s Anatomy
Degrasi The Next Generation
The Bold & The Beautiful
Break It Down
Canada’s Worst Driver
Canada’s Worst Handyman
Daily Planet
Doctor*Ology
Guinea Pig
How Its Made
Jetstream
Land Rover G4 Challenge
Mayday (Requires Silverlight)
Mean Green Machines
Megaworld (Requires Silverlight)
On The Run (Requires Silverlight)
Out In The Cold
Patent Bending (Requires Silverlight)
Star Racer (Requires Silverlight)
And much more…
Windows, Mac OS X, Linux
Some Shows require Silverlight including Older South Park, but most current stuff seems unlocked.
Global TV has FINALLY joined the 21st century and added online video that goes beyond Da Kink In My Hair… (Seriously…) Anyway, their online video player now rivals CTV’s which is looking old and tired, and the quality… wow… CTV, wake up…
Industry Minister Tony Clement MAY override this decision. Read about it here. And PLEASE, read the entry below as well for his address, write to him and phone his office. Tell them what a bad idea UBB is.
–UPDATE– January 21, 2011 –
With UBB Now in affect watching TV Online in Canada will cost you HUGE on your internet bill. For more information please read this entry.
I have added new info under the CTV section showing the new commitment to NON silverlight content.
Discovery Channel, and Comedy Network are now a lot easier to access.
Last time when Coronation St was taken off for a short time as well as now during the olympics, I wanted to watch the episodes online but they will never work for me. Does anyone konw why they will not play for me? My security settings are not too high and I dont have trouble with other online videos.
I used to be able to watch CBC, Global, and CTV. Now the only one I can watch is CTV. I’m using Windows 7, 32-bit, newest versions of Firefox and Flash. Don’t get an error message, just nothing happens when I click on an episode. Have been trying to figure this out for 2 months now. Anyone have any ideas? (Same thing happens using my older computer with none of the latest updates and Flash version 9).
CBC’s site says there is No Coronation St during the Olympics and that new episodes will return August 25th. It also says a new site will be coming then as well… ooo fun :)
Thank you for the info howardrabb! Those CBC people are never there when I need them!I don’t know why they could not leave the videos there and they still provide the option to “choose a video” to watch. Very unfair!
Louise: I think you may have an issue with your computer. All of the videos seem to play for me. I use Linux on one machine and Windoze on the other, and both work no problem
howardrabb- Can I ask you if you are on AOL for internet. I heard from someone that if you use AOL it could think you are in the USA and won’t let you watch some Canadian video. I was wondering if this might be my problem. I checked some of the help section for CBC website. It says I need Real Player which I have and quicktime which I have.
It is possible you are hitting a geoblock if your IP address is coming from the US… what browser are you using? My recommendation would be to try going to that site using firefox 3.0 Click HERE to download it. Firefox is free, open source, much faster than Internet Explorer, and more secure. You can read about Firefox HERE. Oh, I forgot to mention, I am about 90% sure the Coronation St site uses FLASH to play its videos, so I don’t think you should have any problems viewing them… unless your flash is out of date. Download and install firefox, and then try the site, it might work, OR better yet, it might tell you why it’s not working…
The site has surpassed 20,000 visitors today! Yaay. Thanks to everyone that has made the site so great by visiting.
Today I started placing direct links in the TV Page to the articles that prompted the entry. I’ve added links for Mad Men, Greek and Fringe. More to come!
Hi there, I am trying to watch the border via your link but all I get is the message “this content is currently unavailable”, I am in the UK is there a way around this please the tv channel that was showing it has dropped the final 2 episodes of season 1 and I really liked it, Pete.
I can’t seem to watch videos on Global TV on my Linux box (clicking the play button does nothing) but I can on my Windows box. On both machines I use Firefox and the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (10.0.45.2). Strangely I can watch videos that use Adobe Flash Player from CTV’s website.
Fringe episodes have been taken off CTV’s website. Is there any other place to see them. All the US sites won’t let me watch the videos and I missed it this week.
I can’t find Fringe on CTV’s programming lineup for this year. It looks like they didn’t renew it, which would mean they won’t have the episodes online. Looks like Geoblocking is going to lead to more illicit viewing online.

I have moved the TVLand stuff to its own post as there is tonnes of stuff being made available. I will continue to update it as I go.
Added 5 new shows to the CBC section

*shudder* no, I am not on AOL :)

Added – So You Think You Can Dance Canada, Mad Men and Fringe to CTV’s listings.

Thanks for doing this! Awesome!

Does anyone else have this problem?
Is there a work around?
I have removed 24 from the Global line up as its no longer available and added Lie To Me.
Every episode of South Park? I’ll never make it back to work!
Thanks for the list! It’s frustrating trying to find shows legally online in Canada!
